DIARY II

It has been days since I started the practices and, luckily, I have already started my teaching intervention. I say luckily because I wanted to do it.
During this time I have been helping the teacher with what she asked me to do: distribute, help, explain, etc., but in her classes the students work very independently. In other words, the teacher gives them the work they have to do that day and they do it. So I couldn't do much more than help the students if they needed to and explain something.
The fact of starting my teaching unit has allowed me to enjoy more my stay at school.
I am really enjoying preparing material for the students, students I already know, I know what they are like, the personality and the way they learn. Also I already have affection for them.

Besides, it's amazing to put into practice everything you've been studying these past four years. I am very entertained, I enjoy it and I love to see that everything I prepare it's no longer for a teacher who corrects me, is already for the students and they learn thanks to everything I prepare.

Thanks to this, I have also been able to see many things that, maybe, before I didn't take so much into account. For example, the different abilities of the students. On the one hand, we have students who have a very good level of English and/or who assimilate knowledges very quickly. I had to prepare a lot of extra material for them because they finish very quickly all the material I had prepared and I couldn't leave them without doing anything.
On the other hand, there were students who were slower and didn't reach the planned objectives of that session.
This happened for two reasons. Either because English is difficult for them or because they aren't motivated to do anything.
In the first case, these students are previously detected and I have to help them continuously, proving them some help in a paper format or giving them easier activities.
For students who aren't motivated, I tried to sit them next to people who worked better before starting the session, trying to focus them, I give them more entertaining activities to see if they are more motivate and I motivate and help them personally. These ones are the ones that are the most dificult for me. Also, some of them had ADHD and it is difficult for them to work like the others.

Thanks to these days, I have realized all the work involved in making materials, preparing classes and all of this taking into account each of the students, their needs, their abilities, their difficulties, their motivation, the hours we can dedicate to each thing... many factors.
